Community Service Projects

The PWC 2008 4th quarter project was collecting donations and decorating rooms for women at Community Connections. See below for a letter from Donna Osteen the Volunteer coordinator.

Hi everyone.  I wanted to write a short note this morning to tell you all 1) THANK YOU! and 2) a story.

We had intake and orientation this morning over at the Davis Center for the three incoming women we are expecting today.  One of them could not stay for the entire session because she had to go to work.  Hope Brown, our Administrative Manager in the Davis Center, gave the young woman her key and room number and told her to go on up, get settled and then come back down.

Within 5 minutes, the young woman – who is a foster child who has aged out of care – came back down and returned the key to Hope.  She said, “You made a mistake.  Someone already lives in that room.”  Hope double-checked and said, “no, sweetie, that is your room.”

The young woman, accompanied by our Housing Manager, went back up to room 346.  A few minutes later, both of them came back crying.

What an amazing story about someone who has NOTHING.  You ladies made it possible for this young woman to come to a new home and feel at home.  We couldn’t ask for more…

Thank you so much – for everything.

Donna
